DescriptionSide chair, ladder-back has plain turned posts, decorated with flattened rings between the slats; rear posts have round, filleted shoulder leading to a narrow neck accented in the center with a raised disk, and terminating in a flattened ball finial with a single incised line around the center; front posts with flattened rings turned between stretchers; all four leg posts are slightly indented at the bottom to form cylindrical feet; graduated slats with an angular chamfer along the top edge; plain turned stretchers; half-round/half-tapered lists that show evidence of the use of an earlier rush seat prior to the current splint seat. Construction of stretchers and lists use post-and-hole joinery; slats are mortised into leg posts; upper slat is through- pinned with square pins (old, in not original).
