DescriptionThis is a tied beiderwand woven coverlet of blue/green wool and natural colored cotton yarns; woven in two panels; and center seamed. The interior region consists of large floral wreath medallions with central stars worked repeatedly across the coverlet. The side borders are running grape vines and the lower border has pairs of stylized bird and large flowers. Woven into the two lower corner blocks is the inscription: "JOHN/KLINHINZ/OHIO/1848." The sides are self fringed in green wool. The lower edge has a cotton self fringe. The upper edge is folded over twice and stitched by hand.ProvenanceNo history of ownership is known prior to the donor's. Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Foster McCarl, Jr., Beaver Falls, Pa.
