Label TextThis print, depicting the month of August is part of a set of twelve prints representing the months of the year. Themed sets, such as this were popular throughout the eighteenth-century in England and America. The August print shows a young woman having just caught a fish. She has a line in hand with a fish on the end. Beside her is a basket filled with fresh-caught fish. Another figure can be seen fishing on the opposite side of the stream.
