Label TextThis print, depicting the month of October is part of a set of twelve prints representing the months of the year. Themed sets, such as this were popular throughout the eighteenth-century in England and America. The October print depicts the coming of fall and huting season. A young woman has just returned from a hunt, as a groom or fellow hunter on horseback can be seen leading another saddled horse away. She is attired in ridinghabit, with a large hat with feather. She holds a riding crop in one hand which has a dead rabbit on the end. The other hand she holds out to pet the dog.
