DescriptionPlate with incised foot ring. Whitish tin glaze with powdered manganese ground: in the center, a blossom-shaped reserve containing a landscape scene with houses and water; on the rim, four fish. Outlined and painted in blue; rim edged in manganese.Label TextMany powdered-ground plates in the Colonial Williamsburg collection and others have similarly shaped central reserves. Fragments of dishes with fish on a powdered ground have been excavated in London and on several Williamsburg sites, including the George Reid House-Capt. Orr dwelling (11EA.0719, 11EA.0725) Wetherburn's Tavern (9NA.1534), and Bassett Hall (IAA.0154).
