DescriptionFingerless gloves or mitts made of bias-cut plain-weave cotton in yellowish color. Three rows of chain stitching at top of hand.Label TextThese mitts descended in a family of Philadelphia Quakers, a group conservative in their choice of clothing and accessories. For that reason, the mitts, which appear fashionable for the 1780s or 1790s, might have been used well into the nineteenth century.
