DescriptionChinese export porcelain plate decorated in with opaque enamels. Center bears a fruit sprig within a salmon diapered roundel; this is encircled by a sepia and gilt grapevine. The outer edge of the well is bordered by an iron-red, brown and gilt berry band. The slightly upturned rim painted with a salmon ground that is decorated with a brown and gilt neoclassical foliate border. A gilt floral band encircles the edge.Label TextThis plate is one of a pair which was likely part of a much larger service. While the central decoration is different, the border design on this service is almost identical to one owned by the Wilcocks family. By the time these pieces were made, most decoration was added in painting workshops in Guangzhou. Plain white porcelain was sent from Jingdezhen and finished according to Western tastes once it reached port.
