DescriptionPair of circular Chinese export porcelain soup plates, each with raised foot and broad slightly upturned everted rim. Decorated with opaque enamels. The rim with an iron-red and gilded spearhead border and eight evenly spaced floral sprays. The cavetto decorated with a gilt and iron-red crackled prunus blossom band, interrupted at even intervals by four panels featuring pink lotus petals. The center of the well painted with a central design of two blue scholar's rocks and a prunus blossom branch in the green-washed grassy foreground, and two large pink blooms (passion flower and peony) arching over and surrounded by smaller flowers.ca. 1760
