DescriptionWoman's calash or collapsible bonnet made of thin greenish-gray silk lined with bright pink silk. Silks are shirred on 4 hoops of reed or cane. Center back is pleated in radiating pleats for shaping. Bonnet has narrow aprons or flaps to cover back and sides of neck. Dark brown ribbed silk tie strings are new replacements. The front edges were originally trimmed with black lace, which was removed about 1958; 2 small black silk tassels attached at center back also removed.
