DescriptionWoman's calash, or collapsible bonnet, constructed of brown, cream, and pink sheer checked silk (now fragile with parts missing). Silk is shirred onto 12 thin wooden hoops and is faced with a gathered and corded ruffle around the face. Neckline is finished with a wider corded self-ruffle serving as a neck cover. Cotton gauze lining. Replaced yellow ribbon ties.1800-1835
