DescriptionWoman's padded bonnet constructed of light blue-green silk shirred on three hoops that appear to be heavy wire. Bonnet has corded ruffles around the face and a neck covering pleated and gathered to the bonnet. Heavy corded neckband between bonnet and neck ruffle. Brighter blue silk ribbons serve as ties and form two decorative bows at the back and one on the top face opening. Back is pleated and gathered for shaping. Bonnet is heavily padded with cotton and lined with glazed yellow cotton (probably "cambric"). The bonnet resembles a calash in its use of the stiffening wires, though it is not collapsible.
