DescriptionA short cloak made of a light blue figured silk. the silk is of a floral pattern making medium sized squares with a floral motif in the middle of each square. The body of the cloak is made up of two widths of selvage to selvage silk, with two small sections pieced onto the ends to make it the desired length. The body of the cloak is pleated into a neck band, with five pleats to each side of the center back seam. A small but deep hood was then pleated into the neck band, 2 pleats to either side of the center back seam. The hood has a casing around the face retaining its original silk tie. Another casing runs around the neck but has lost its ties. The silk cloak is fully lined in very light silk taffeta, like the type found used as hem facings on women’s gowns. Each edge of the cloak is trimmed in bobbin lace, including the neck edge.
