DescriptionCoat of dark navy blue wool cloth trimmed with bands of woven livery lace. Coat has high standing collar, curved sleeves, cut away front with silk frog and tassle trim. Two hooks and eyes at front closure. Linen-lined functional pockets with shaped flaps. Lining is coarse red twill wool. Sleeves lined with linen. Alterations evident at cuffs (sleeve lengthened) cloth cut and left raw at hem. Coat let out at chest (lining is pieced under arms.) Shown in center of photograph with two other coats.Construction History:
1. 1810-1850: Initial construction
2. April 4, 1958: Work by Ernest LoNano: Removed braid on back of coat and resewed down front of waistcoat. Removed facing of right sleeve and replaced with wool lining. Removed collar and replaced with special dyed wool cloth, also used same dyed wool cloth for restoring entire lining of coat.
