DescriptionTeapot of globular form with plain, annular handle and applied straight, conical spout. With pronounced vertical foot ring and collar and potting marks. The domed cover with acorn-shaped finial. The finial, the collar, the rim of the cover, and the foot ring all accented with gilt; the gilt on the collar and cavetto and the finial applied in a sort of dentil fashion. The cool gray glaze over warm buff body with overglaze polychrome enamels. The decoration comprised of three distinct scenes, each of birds in a wooded surround. The cover with a pheasant [?] in yellow, purple, brown with blue and gold wings. With two smaller purple birds flying in a wooded area. One side with large central pheasant [?] in purple, indigo, yellow, and brown. With bluebird in blue, gold, and brown on branch with berries. With finch [?] in yellow and black with rust-colored back and magenta body on the other side. The other side of the body with a peacock [?] with blue-green head and crest, black legs, yellow wings and red-magenta tail. A smaller bird with magenta and black wings and yellow body is perched in a tree. An additional bird with red body and purple-blue wings sits on a fence.Inscribedno
