DescriptionShallow-bowled charger with wide, angled rim and foot ring. Bluish tin glaze on the back; white tin glaze on the front decorated in tones of dark blue with a full-length portrait of a man in fine dress standing in a landscape with sponged trees, holding a baton. Blue-dash rim with concentric banding. Inscribed "PW"Label TextThis charger is believed to commemorate Queen Anne's son, Prince William, duke of Gloucester, who died in 1701. As with CWF accession 1969-96, this figure appears on several chargers with different initials intended to represent different men, including Prince William's father, Prince George of Denmark (PG), the duke of Ormonde (DO), and the duke of Marlborough (DM).
