DescriptionShallow-bowled charger with everted rim and foot ring. White tin-glaze decorated on the front in polychrome with stilted drawing of tulips and other flowers among leafage rising from a mound. Blue outlining washed in dark mixed green, blue, orange-yellow, and deep red. Blues dash rim with inner bands of blue and yellow.Label TextBlue-dash chargers with plain lead glaze on the back generally date from the seventeenth century, whereas those with tin added to the glaze, making it opaque, date into the eighteenth century. Chargers decorated with variations on the stylized stiff small tulips seen here are found with both types of glaze, suggesting that they were produced around the turn of the century.
