DescriptionMan's sleeveless and collarless waistcoat of ivory silk satin embroidered with sequins, metallic threads, and paste. Front field covered with small sequins stitched in vertical rows (many missing). Embroidery using blue and clear paste, metallic purl, sequins, and silk to form flowers and leaves is concentrated down fronts, on skirt hems, on pocket flaps, and surrounding pockets. Waistcoat closes with 13 worked buttonholes with embroidered buttons. Ivory twilled silk back. Natural linen-cotton twill lining and wool and linen interlinings. Silk satin facing down fronts and on skirts. Functional pockets with button trimming just beneath flaps. A flap or extension of facing behind buttonholes covers ends of buttonholes.Waistcoat shortened just above pocket flaps, as seen in interruption of embroidery.
