DescriptionFringed jacket of white cotton twill, trimmed with green silk satin and linen fringe. Jacket has folded-down collar of green silk satin, trimmed with metallic tape trim on silk core; collar fronts extend beyond point of attachment to jacket neckline. Jacket fastened down center front with 14 oval thread toggle buttons, fringed at each end and functional buttonholes; center fronts curved over chest, cutting back at hem. Coat is trimmed with cut and knotted linen fringe 2 1/2" deep with hangers spaced 5-6" apart. Fringe applied in scalloped pattern at hems and up both sides and center back vents. Close-fitting sleeves, cut to curve over elbows, ending in green silk satin cuff and shaped, buttoned flap covering vent opening of sleeve; metallic trim. Shaped pocket flaps set in vertically on front skirts, buttoned with three toggle buttons, covering functional pockets. Jacket fully lined with tabby linen, with small lining areas of tabby cotton (in part of sleeves) and basketweave cotton (ends of sleeves.)ProvenanceOnce part of the Ed Charol collection.
