White tin glaze decoration in blue with a man and a boy on a hillside watching sailboats; on the rim, 5 repeats of a Chinese symbol and flower motif.Label TextTen-sided plates such as this are rare. The decoration seen here and on many of the Irish delft pieces in the Colonial Williamsburg collection relates to scenes on a punch bowl in the British Museum that bears the inscription "Clay got over the Primate's Coals--Dublin 1753."
