DescriptionShallow dish with small raised foot ring, crimped edge, and openwork flower-and-diamond pattern around the rim. Bluish tin glaze decorated in grayish blue with a chinoiserie landscape, tower, and bridge in the center, a leaf border at the outer rim, and outlining around the piercing.Label TextPierced decoration is not as common on delft as it is on other English pottery. The technique appears on some delft puzzle jugs and bowls (see CWF accessions 1962-101 and 1984-242), but is relatively rare on dishes.
The London attribution is based on both the decoration and the glaze.
