DescriptionMan's sleeved waistcoat of creamy-white silk satin, quilted in all-over pattern of small diamond lozenges. Waistcoat is collarless, with wide curved lapels buttoned back or across chest with eleven buttons on each side. Below lapels, waistcoat is fastened with four additional buttons. Buttons are silk thread covered. Sleeves are without cuffs, fastened with two buttons at each wrist opening. Two deep linen pockets are covered with curved or scalloped shaped pocket flaps made of the quilted silk. Skirts vented at sides and back. Waistcoat is lined throughout with natural tabby-woven cotton. Quilting is worked with silk threads through wool batting and backing. Pieces were added to waist sides to enlarge the garment.Construction History:
