DescriptionMan's sleeveless and collarless waistcoat of cream-yellow ribbed silk, embroidered in chain stitch tambour work in pinks, greens, blues and pale yellow. Design consists of isolated rosebuds scattered on the ground ("powdered") and meandering flowers down fronts and skirt. Shaped pocket flaps and area below flaps are decorated with swags and tassels. Functional pockets. Wool back has central vent and silk insets under arms to enlarge waistcoat. Lining of slubbed tabby linen; fronts and skirts faced with silk. 12 buttons and 12 cut buttonholes; each button has an embroidered sprig.Construction History:
