DescriptionMan's sleeveless waistcoat of horizontally striped silk in cream, yellow and brown, trimmed with blue ribbons and brown, mauve, and maroon silk chain stitch in meandering loops. Standing collar, 1 7/8" high, trimmed with ribbon and embroidery. Buttoned down front with 10 covered buttons; trimmed on either side of buttons with two vertically-placed ribbons approximately 1 inch apart. Welt pockets, entered from top, are trimmed with ribbon and embroidery. Bottom cut straight across, with ribbon edging hem. Back is a single layer of napped cotton tabby, adjusted with two pairs of tapes stitched to side seams and emerging out of four worked eyelets to tie at center back. Faced with cream silk tabby; lined with tabby cotton.1770-1780
