DescriptionSmall child's frock or dress with raised waist, made of white-ground cotton, printed in red and brown in a design of stylized flowers and zig-zag lines within a striped format. Short, puffed sleeves, gathered at the openings with large running stitches. Squared neckline drawn in with strings at center front and back, and styled with narrow fabric bands running over shoulders. Raised waistline with drawstring. Floor-length skirt with one-inch tuck near hem. Dress opens completely down back, fastened with two drawstrings (replaced). Center back of dress has extra gathered fullness where skirt meets bodice.ProvenanceFound in an antique shop; came with history of having been purchased from a Pennsylvania couple who were collectors.
