DescriptionSquare tile. Bluish tin glaze and powdered blue ground decorated in blue
with a European landscape: a fisherman with his net beside a wide river
with a building and a tree in the background, all within an octagonal
reserve; carnation corners.
Label TextAn interesting example in the Victoria and Albert Museum shows the same scene presented here, but with an octagonal border of dashes. Carnation corners and European scenes are typical of London potters. The later date for this tile is based on the color of the glaze, the color and fineness of the blue ground, and the flatness of the tile.
