DescriptionSoft-paste porcelain cup with a circular base and straight flaring sides with an angular handle. The exterior of the cup and saucer are overglaze, hand-painted with a scattered playing card decoration on a black ground. The interior of the cup and handle is richly gilded. MarkingsHand-painted crown, over a crossed batons with six dots, over a script "D" in red-orange.
According to F. Brayshaw Gilhespy, DERBY PORCELAIN, 39, this mark appeared between 1782-1811.
