DescriptionArmchair; serpentine cresting rail with centered curved slot terminating in a circular shape at each side; slightly shaped stiles rounded on front innner edge and with single cock molding at outer edge extending over cresting rail; solid, vase-shaped splat; bold, outward curving arms terminating in a knuckle shaped at top and a spiral carved at each side; seat rails flare outward at each side and flat and straight on all sides; side rails mortised through rear legs; slip seat frame not original to chair; original trangular corner block at right front; cabriole front legs terminating in a triphid foot and with a tear-drop outlined in deep carving on each knee and protruding in central area beyond sides of legs; back legs flare to rear and cylindrical in cross section.Woods: Primary wood is mahogany with Atlantic white cedar front corner block(micro).
MarkingsModern chalk inscription "82 (?) 77-1" inner side of back seat rail.
