DescriptionThis is a woven coverlet in shades of brown, blue, and natural cotton and wool yarns. It was woven in an overshot weave structure in two loom widths that have been center seamed. It has applied fringe at sides and foot. It is in a geometric pattern.
Label TextThe term "overshot" describes the action of a supplementary weft which floats or overshoots the foundation weave. The band of overshot patterning incorporated in the applied fringe constitutes an unusual and particularly pleasing feature of this example.
