DescriptionMan's waistcoat of silver "tissue" a textile with silver threads running from selvage to selvage in the weft), brocaded with silk, silk chenille and silver gilt. Waistcoat is collarless and sleeveless, brocaded to form in "waistcoat shape" in a design of isolated pink and red flowers, with a concentration of design down fronts, around pocket flaps, and on skirt fronts, which are slightly cut away. Twelve gold thread covered buttons (possibly replaced). Back and skirt linings are cream-color silk woven in a twill variant; front facing is new ribbed cream silk; body lining is tabby linen.Construction History:
