DescriptionSmall Chinese porcelain plate decorated en grisaille with a pastoral scene depicting a farmer leaning against a cow. In the distant background are two small buildings. A gilt band encircles the dish and the initials "WLD" in gilding appear inside the cavetto at twelve o'clock.

Good. Wear to gilt.
Label TextSeveral services decorated with variations of this pattern are known to have been owned in Philadelphia. The original service, according to family tradition, was designed by Mary Hollingsworth Morris and sent as a drawing to China with her brother, Henry Hollingsworth.

ProvenanceProvenance: Label on bottom "COLLECTION OF BETTY BROWN".
The cipher "WLD" suggests that this piece was originally owned by the Duane family of NY.
