DescriptionCylindrical form tin-glazed earthenware tankard, loop handle with blue-dash ornament, painted with a brown fox jumping a fence flanked by green sponged trees beneath the inscription "Be ware of the Sly / Dog fox 1731", the molded foot with a blue band.Label TextA close parallel to fragments recovered at the Bates site in York County, Virginia, this tankard is a rare survival, both above ground and archaeologically.
