DescriptionThis is a rectangular woolen blanket woven in twill weave. The pattern consists of orange-red, bright yellow, and white in a check pattern in the center with grouped stripes along two edges. The blanket is woven in one piece, without a center seam. The top and bottom are finished with blanket stitch; the sides with selvages.Label TextEven functional warm, woolen blankets could be colorful and decorative. The brilliant yellow combined with red color scheme in this blanket is characteristic of the Fancy Period (1790-1840).
ProvenanceThe donor remembers that he acquired the blanket at a pickers market in New Hampshire around 2016.
