DescriptionRectangular bag used as a mattress tick made from heavy unbleached tow linen, woven in plain or tabby weave. Small remnants of straw survive inside tick. Bag is constructed from two pieces of linen, each about 36" wide from selvage to selvage, folded and hand stitched together using backstitches. All raw edges are overcast to prevent raveling. One length of linen is folded crosswise and the other folded lengthwise. Thread count 34 warps X 33 to 34 wefts per inch.
