DescriptionPosset pot: globular with short wide neck; pair of loop handles with coils below upper and lower terminals; slightly "S"-shaped tubular spout. Painted in blue on a slightly blue ground in the Ming style with Chinese figures in a landscape; top and bottom edge encircled with uneven lines; and spout and handles painted with blue dashes.Label TextThis posset pot relates in both form and decoration, including the scroll handles and the blue dashes on the handles and spout, to a privately owned example dated 1670. Variation of this painted decoration continued for the next three decades, and the baluster shape continued to be made into the eighteenth century.
