DescriptionPlate, with scalloped edges in a variant on the Queen's Shape. The border with a bead, and the marly with alternating grounds of basket-weave, dot diaper, and star diaper. These separated by vertical feather-like scrolls. The bottom flat with potting marks where piece was trimmed. The smooth glaze gray in color with dark blue inclusions. The decoration executed in overglaze polychrome enamels. The bead in a mustard-brown; the marly ground enameled in a sky blue with the dividing scrollwork reserved. The cavetto with a yellow-ground trellis border interrupted by five cartouches with formal half chrysanthemums in rose. The center with a portrait of Frederick, the King of Prussia in blue coat and tricorn hat. This framed by a deep puce ribbon with "FREDERICUS / MAXIMUS / BORUSS REX" in black. With two flanking gilt scrolls and surmounting a sort of flourish and tassel in gilt and magenta enamel.Inscribedno
