DescriptionThe lower margin reads: "OCTOBER./ OCTOBRE./ R. Dighton del./ Printed for & Sold by Carington Bowles,/ N.o 69 in S.t Pauls Church Yard, London./ Published as the Act directs, 535"Label TextThis print, representing the month of October, is part of a set of twelve prints representing the months of the year. Themed sets, such as this were popular throughout the eighteenth-century in England and America. A fashionably dressed woman in riding a riding habit is shown under a tree by a wall. In the distance a group of hunters on horses and with hounds can be seen. The suggestion is that the woman has either just left the group or is about to join them.
