DescriptionflagonLabel TextThis flagon (right) and accession 1986-68 represent the two basic types of flagons that are associated with the Yorkshire makers. This one is of the earlier type with its tall body having inclined straight sides and a wide band of broad reeds immediately above the base. The body is fitted with a domed cover with a projecting flange and a slender strap handle.
InscribedOwner's initials "SS" stamped on upper face of cover denticulation.
MarkingsTouch mark "?T" within a probable heart-shaped reserve on interior center-bottom of base (Peal MPM 5977a).
