DescriptionWaistcoat from a three-piece suit of livery consisting of green broadcloth coat and cream-color waistcoat and breeches. Waistcoat trimmed with silk uncut velvet livery lace in pattern with lion rampant. Waistcoat is sleeveless, with 5 thread buttons and buttonholes. Livery lace trims the standing collar and fronts and outlines nonfunctional pocket flaps. Lined with cream worsted twill. Cotton back has adjustable tie tapes. Broadcloth front facing.Markings"R" hand stitched
ProvenanceVendor states that suit was found in Westport, Connecticut, in a locked cedar chest, along with 1860s newspapers.
