DescriptionMan's knee breeches of brown cotton cut velvet (probably called "velveret"), fully lined with leather. Breeches button at center front with two metal shank buttons marked "GILT" on the back. Broad fall flap covers lower torso and two pockets. Knee-length legs end with buttoned knee bands (probably a replacement for buckles); knee openings buttoned with four metal shank buttons. Rear has seat fullness gathered into waistband, with center back vent and two pairs of eyelets. ‚MarkingsWaistband buttons marked "GILT" on the back.
ProvenanceAccording to vendor, the breeches are from the collection of Giles Kotcher of Boston. Ginsburg purchased them from Kotcher in May of 1988.
