DescriptionMan's sleeveless waistcoat for wear with formal suit. Waistcoat is constructed of ivory ribbed silk embroidered in outline, satin stitch, and French knots with multicolor silks in pink, rose, blue, yellow, gold, greens, and black. Embroidered design consists of bold flowers and scrolling stems and leaves with narrow zig-zag borders, concentraded on collar, down fronts, at front hems, and on pocket flaps. Remainder of waistcoat front has small evenly spaced sprigs. Garment has standing collar and v neckline, fastening closed with 5 embroidered buttons sewn to an extension of the right front. Lining of front sections is cotton. Back sections are natural cotton and probably Short back with metal buckled belt. Buckle marked "Solide" and "Paris." Silk twill facings.Construction history
