The space between each circle creates an additional curved diamond pattern filled with concentric diamonds. The pattern is set against white ground. Low armscye with long sleeves and large puffs at shoulders, tight extension below to hooked cuffs. Full gathered skirt. Back opening fastened with hooks and string loops. The bodice, sleeves, and lower 9" of the hem are lined with a white plainweave linen while a coarser white linen lines the waist. Construction History:
1. Ca. 1825: Initial Construction
2. 1836-1837: Altered. Banding on sleeves indicates the dress may have had fuller sleeves that were taken in at a later date. An additional 1 5/8" piece of fabric was added to the center back of the waist on the hook side of the opening.
