DescriptionMan's waistcoat of twill-woven brownish wool, originally gold in color. Small standing collar, sleeveless, buttoned down center front with replaced fabric-covered buttons, functional pockets under welted pocket flaps. Waistcoat is short in length with shallow inverted V cut away at center fronts. Cotton back with later ties for adjusting fit. Cotton lining.Construction History:
1. 1780-1800: Initial Construction
2. February 15, 1957: Cleaning and restoring by Ernest LoNano for Margaret Hunter Shop. Dying material for buttons, reducing under arms about 1" and using this material for restoring, covering eight buttons and adding two new tie strings. Five military metal buttons were on the waistcoat when it arrived. These were apparently removed by LoNano and replaced with current fabric-covered buttons, the textile taken from enlarging the armhole.
