Buttons covered with silver plate and metallic threads, woven in effect of cross; tape woven of silk, metal plate and metal threads; Gold silk pocket flap lining, (different in pattern from replacement lining.)

DescriptionMan's suit coat, matching breeches #2, of gold silk voided and uncut velvet in symmetrical lace pattern with zig-zag framework forming part of design on either side of central floral elements. Coat is collarless, buttoned down front with 10 metallic thread covered buttons and decorative metallic tape edging buttonholes and corresponding position opposite buttons. Cut almost straight down front with wide, full skirts pleated deeply at sides. Shaped pocket flaps trimmed with three vertical strips of metallic tape and two buttons; third button sewn to coat beneath center point of shaped cuff. Full sleeves, ending in 5-6" cuffs, each trimmed with three buttons and metallic tapes. Back has center back seam ending in deep vent open below waistband; 6 button trim at center back.Construction History:
