DescriptionTile: square tile with slightly canted sides; the face decorated in underglaze blue with a central floral motif of a three-tiered leafy floral motif painted vertically; the face with a scroll border interrupted at each corner by a diaper and dot filled trefid-lobed reserve pointing inward. The reverse unglazed with curved and hatched score marks made on the diagonal throughout.InscribedNone

Consigned to Dore & Rees Auctioneers (Somerset, England) and listed in March 26, 2024 auction of the late George Withers. March 26, 2024, purchased at auction by Martyn Edgell (Peterborough, UK); in May of 2024 Martyn Edgell sold the tile to Rob Hunter [Williamsburg, VA]; in June 2024, Rob Hunter subsequently gave the tile to the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation (Williamsburg, VA).
