DescriptionOvoid pot with low shoulder, straight spout, and ear-shaped handle. White tin glaze decorated in blue, mixed green, and red with a Chinese scene of simple flowers and songbirds; cloud scrolls on the handle and the spout. Low-domed blue decorated cover not originally with pot.Label TextTwo recorded teapots decorated with the same design seen here have traditional loop handles, and one of the same form, including this unusual Meissen handle, has blue-and-white decoration similar to that in red on a sugar dish in the CWF collection (accession 1964-442).
