DescriptionGlobular-bodied pot with short cylindrical neck, flared foot, curved spout, and loop handle. Slightly domed lid with small knop and steam vent. Bluish tin glaze on stoneware body decorated in blue with European landscape scenes of houses and trees. On the lid, a similar but smaller motif.Label TextThis teapot is from a small group of Liverpool-made tin-glazed stoneware (as opposed to earthenware). One recorded teapot with this body is dated 1756. Many of the recorded examples are containers intended to receive hot water; stoneware is far less likely to crack than earthenware upon sudden contact with hot water.
