DescriptionMan's waistcoat, sleeveless and collarless, made of pale green ribbed silk taffeta embroidered with chain stitches to shape with colored silks (shaded pinks, greens, yellows, and violets). Pattern consists of naturalistic flowers in trails, sprigs, and garlands concentrated down fronts, hems, and on pocket flaps that cover functional pockets. Evenly scattered springs fill ground. Waistcoat fastens with eleven embroidered buttonholes and sprig embroidered buttons down front. Waistcoat back constructed of pale green plain-woven glazed wool. Waistcoat lined throughout with napped cotton and linen, sometimes called fustian. Front skirts and front facings are of green glazed wool tabby.
