DescriptionRectangular, black leather covered document box with a hinged lid with wide chamfers around perimeter of lid; oval stamped backplate with lions head in center flanked by acorns and oak leaves and bail handle in center of top; edges of box top and ends outlined in brass nails; shaped brown leather apron nailed inside lid around around front and sides; rectangular iron lock and hasp in center of front facade. Interior lined with blue and white checked fabric.MarkingsPrinted paper label inside lid of trunk, cut in shape of a shield, "JOHN LUTZ,/ Saddle, Trunk/ AND/ Harness-Maker;/ H[igh] Street-/ Georgetown,/ D.C."
