DescriptionMan's waistcoat of changeable green and purple silk taffeta needleworked with silk chain stitches (probably tambour work) in pink, green and cream, in a delicate pattern of flowers and leaves with borders of dots and slanting dashes. Waistcoat is sleeveless, with 1 3/4"-high standing collar. Buttoned down front with 24 paired thread buttons and 13 buttonholes giving narrow double breasted effect. Functional pockets with rectangular pocket flaps or welts accessible from top. Cut straight across lower edge, just below waist level. Lining and backs of tabby linen and cotton. Back laces up center 15 3/4" up (one metal tip remains on tie); buckle and strap. Backing extends to front armseye over shoulders and under arms.
