DescriptionMan's waistcoat of white linen woven of paired threads. Waistcoat is sleeveless and unlined. Fronts fold back to form wide lapels; waistcoat is double-breasted with 18 thread-covered white buttons. Horizontal welts finish functional pockets. Back is unlined, made of linen, with center gusset for enlargement.ProvenanceSaid to be worn by John Knight of Wolverley, Lea Castle, Simonsbath, Exmoor (1765-1850).
